New Entrant Workshop

Teaching in a New Entrant / Year 0 class takes special skills. If you are starting a New Entrant/Year 1 class or already teaching at this level, this workshop will be applicable to you and will cover the following essential aspects:

  • What’s essential in a NewEntrant classroom?

  • Why is it important to buildstrong relationships with whānau and how do I go about it?

  • Is it about the child being ready for school or you being ready for the child?

  • What systems and routines is it important to establish and how do I do it?

  • What data should I be gathering at school entry?

  • How do I help children transition from ECE to school?

  • How do I structure the day in a New Entrant classroom?

  • What are the expectations at school entry?

  • Should I be using a play based approach?

$225 (plus GST) per person includes a light morning tea and lunch
