This workshop is specifically designed for leaders and teachers who need to upskill with how to meet the needs of English Language Learners (ELLs). 

It will cover:

·     Enrolment procedures to identify ELLs

·     Using the English Language Learning Progressions (ELLP) to access ESOL funding

·     Using the ESOL funding appropriately

·     Key resources for working with English Language Learners

·     Setting up an effective ESOL programme.

o  Leaders with responsibility for ELLs

Using the English Language Learning Progressions (ELLP) matrices formatively

9-3p.m. St Columba Centre, 40 Vermont Street, Ponsonby. $225 per person

A workshop that will focus on assessing students accurately on the matrices and then how to use the information formatively. Content will include:

·     Analysis and interpretation of the information and using it to inform teaching.

·     What resources should I be using?

·     How does the ELLP information link to the SELLIPS and ELIP resources?

·     How can I use these resources for my planning?

·     Practical learning experiences to use in teaching.

o     ESOL teachers and leaders 

o     Classroom teachers and SENCOs

ESOL Strategies for Teacher Aides

9.30 -2.30 p.m. St Columba Centre, 40 Vermont Street, Ponsonby. $200 + GST per person

A practical workshop for Teacher Aides who are supporting English Language Learners, either in the classroom or in withdrawal programmes. Content will include:

·      Practical strategies that can be used to build language knowledge.

·      The specific challenges for ELLS in reading and writing and how to help students with these challenges.

·      The key resources available to teacher aides and how they can be used effectively.
